Crazy Idea!

Nic, I can see where you are coming from and I think that we have both agreed that spending that amount of money on a prisoner is way too much. I still think that they should be punished for their immoral acts and that they should suffer the way they made their victims and their victim's families suffer.
After pondering for a while, I've come to the conclusion that both is beneficial to society and can make the scum who committed those crimes pay for what they did:
Why don't we just send all those scum bags to Siberia to work in a prison factory that would produce income to pay for their own imprisonment?! We could know that they are suffering with no cost to us! Of course all of this is without chance of bail.

  1. I agree with you about finding other ways to make criminals pay for the horrible things they've done. I think making them work is a really good idea, and I'm sure there already are programs like this. I think it is better for them to be productive and not just sitting in jail with other criminals waiting to be released. They should have to live with what they did for the rest of their lives and at least learn from it. I think punishment should be way stricter and way more severe to start with. A lot of criminals get released from jail after a few years and go commit another crime, often worse. I think we should the focus should go to developing programs that will stop this, and making punishment way less lenient than it is now. We have to change something so it is less likely for people to break the law and commit crimes in the first place.
